St John Hospital is located on Cheung Chau Island. Following various expansion and development projects, the hospital now has two blocks consisting of a three-storey hospital block and a three-storey outpatient department block.

It is a community hospital with 93 beds, serving a population of around 40,000 local residents and all the visitors to the island. In addition, the hospital provides infirmary care to patients from Central Infirmary List and local infirmary.

Besides inpatients service, St. John Hospital also runs general and specialist outpatients clinics. The specialist clinics are in ortho-geriatrics and chest. The other services include 24 hour Accident & Emergency, ultrasonography, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dental, maternal & child health and X-ray, dietetic.

The hospital has strengthened its community services to the local residents. These services include domiciliary occupational therapy, community nursing and community geriatric assessment.
